Chopped Chicken Liver Sandwich

When I committed to try every item on the Izzy’s menu, I knew I’d have to try new things. From what I’ve heard, most patrons either love or hate the chopped chicken liver. It was not what I expected at all. It’s basically a spread with the texture of a thick hummus. The crisp lettuce and tomato serve a nice balance for the creamy braunschweiger. The heaping portion of the liver is a bit much, though. I think that it would go great on a sandwich in a supporting role, rather than as the featured attraction. It was worth trying. If you’re feeling adventurous, add some chopped chicken liver to your next Izzy’s sandwich.

You know Adam Turer from his attempt to take down Izzy’s 110 Reuben on Travel Channel’s Man V Food Nation.  Join us as Izzy’s challenges Adam to eat  his way through Izzy’s menu in one year.  Adam will share his thoughts as he tries each and every Izzy menu item, while journeying to all local locations throughout the year. In addition to great food, Izzy’s also serves up some great drinks. In my opinion, nothing washes down a Reuben better than a Dr. Brown’s cream soda. A few locations also serve beer. Florence, the home of Izzy’s monthly craft beer dinners, has the best selection, which is constantly changing.  Florence is also carrying a variety of Boylan’s craft sodas for a limited time.   The root beer is my son’s favorite. Young or old, you can enjoy a unique pop next time you eat at Izzy’s.

Breakfast!

It’s a great way to start the new year and a great way to start any day. A few Izzy’s locations, including Main Street, offer breakfast. I went with my favorite breakfast meat, goetta, with egg and cheese on a bagel. As you can see from the menu, a breakfast sandwich and coffee is one of the best deals in town. Izzy’s offers plenty of variety at great prices. Enjoy the most important meal of the day, starting at 7:00 a.m. every weekday.

Looking for something light to hold you over in between holiday feasts? The Izzy’s Lean is your answer. It’s simple: Izzy’s renowned deli meat on toast, with a side of pasta salad. Add as many pickles and condiments as you like, or enjoy it plain. Yum!
