Satisfying Ending to a Long Day – The Joe Walter Sandwich

I work all day and go to school at night. Some days, I don’t have time to grab dinner in between work and class.  By the time class ends, my only options are usually fast food joints, which I try to avoid.  So imagine how excited I was this week when my professor let us out of our last class of the semester early.  As I was driving home down Beechmont Avenue with a growling stomach, I realized that Izzy’s was still open.  The Anderson location stays open until 9pm Monday-Saturday.  Eager to get home, I walked in and placed a carryout order.  My sandwich was ready in five minutes.  The service was quick without making me feel rushed.  If I wasn’t in such a hurry to get home, I would have stayed at the countertop seating and enjoyed a Yuengling while watching Monday Night Football.  In a nod to the Bengals’ big win on Sunday, I went with the Joe Walter, a turkey and roast beef sandwich with American cheese, lettuce, and tomato on wheat bread, named after the former Bengal great.  The sandwich was accompanied by Izzy’s famous potato pancake and pickles.  It was a very satisfying ending to a long day.

You know Adam Turer from his attempt to take down Izzy’s 110 Reuben on Travel Channel’s Man V Food Nation.  Join us as Izzy’s challenges Adam to eat his way through Izzy’s menu in one year.  Adam will share his thoughts as he tries each and every Izzy menu item, while journeying to all 9 local locations throughout the year.  Got a specific twist or combination you want him to try? Leave us a comment here, on our Facebook page or our twitter account and we will have him try it for you.  As we lay down our challenge to Adam, we only had two words: COME HUNGRY!
