This is not your average burger. I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I finally tried the Double ZZ Burger. There’s no bun. There’s no cheese. It’s not exactly a sandwich, but not exactly a traditional burger. It was loaded with grilled onions. I’ll admit, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The beef patty topped with pastrami and the aforementioned onions on rye toast was delicious. You can also choose Izzy’s famous corned beef instead of the pastrami. The flavors complemented each other nicely, without any ingredient dominating. I only added a little bit of ketchup. This was another shining example of why you should leave your comfort zone and try something new on your next Izzy’s visit.
